Born on April 11, 1982 in Herten, a town in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, pop singer David Pfeffer rose to fame when he won the second season of X-Factor in 2011. Mentored by judge Till Brönner, Pfeffer beat contestant Raffaela Wais and Nica & Joe in the show’s finale on December 6, 2011 with his own song, “I’m Here” (a power ballad which was released as a single the same day) and his renditions of Melanie C’s “First Day of My Life” which they sang as a duet song and Hoobastank’s “The Reason.” Three days after Pfeffer’s victory, his debut album I Mind hit the stores, featuring guitar-based pop songs and introspective ballads.
Pfeffer, who used to work as a policeman (which earned him the nickname “Sergeant Pepper”), also fronted an indie rock group called Inpaticula who have released a download EP (A Little Confession) and serve as his touring band.In 2013 he released a concept Indie-Pop-Rock album ”Waking Life and Fading Pictures” with his band. The album includes the first single ”Polaroid“ and an duet with his former mentor jazz trumpeter Till Brönner.
After one year of touring Pfeffer used the new possibilities of crowdfunding to fund his upcoming studio time. The funding was a huge success. In February 2015 his EP ”View” was released featuring five new tracks in a new modern style which mixed up Pop, Singer-Songwriter and RnB elements. He toured with german musician and actor Tom Beck and once again used the power of the crowd to successfully fund two new albums in the making.
